Lessons Learned
Planta Solar 10 Power Plant is the first commercial concentrating
solar power plant in the world. It used a pressurized water storage system,
which led to a breakthrough in the storage system field and improved the
capacity factor of the concentrated solar power plant [1]. The heliostat field
consists of 624 heliostats, which were put into 35 circular rows around the
tower. The receiver was based on the cavity concept. Four pieces of vertical
panels were arranged into a semi cylinder shape to reduce radiation and
convection loss [2].
