Local Environmental Conditions

This project is located in Dunhuang, China. Dunhuang is located in Gobi desert, which has an average precipitation of 38.9mm, the annual average wind speed is 2m/s, and average annual dust days about 5~6 days. The average temperature during a year is about 9.4 degree Celsius and the DNI is about 1777 kWh/m².

Lessons Learned

 

To achieve the expected economic value and the investment goals in a solar thermal power plant, it is essential to take on a leading role in technology development.   
In terms of design, the most significant challenge in solar thermal power plant design lies in the design of the molten salt system.
In installation, careful planning of the construction sequence is the most important part.
In the commissioning phase, it is important to place a strong emphasis on system coordination and joint testing within the solar thermal system.
